Background and Objectives
On Easter Sunday, our team of videographers were invited to capture footage of the P.A.U.L For Brain Recovery Charity 10K. The event is held every year to raise awareness and funds for the charity, supporting those living with acquired brain injury. We were thrilled to collaborate with the charity to film the highlights of the race to be used internally and for marketing purposes.
What did we capture?
For an event like this, it’s important to capture the build-up and anticipation ahead of the race to show the power of community. We filmed participants as they were warming up, stretching and chatting with one another. Many of the individuals were representing local businesses, so we were keen to gather their thoughts before the race to hear their goals and enthusiasm for the upcoming challenge.
As the race got underway, our two-man videography team positioned themselves at key points along the course to capture the runners, the spectators and the volunteers. A few of the Eon Visual Media team even took part! We wanted to ensure the film reflected the community spirit, the energy of the run and the dedication to P.A.U.L For Brain Recovery.
It was especially important for us to be at the finish line to capture the most rewarding part of the day – the triumph of crossing the finish line! We filmed runners receiving their medals, reuniting with family and friends and celebrating their achievement of supporting a fantastic cause. These moments were particularly important to include to truly show the emotion and pride of the day.
Did we use any specific videography techniques?
Drone videography was used alongside traditional video techniques to capture the moving nature and scale of the race. This year the Charity 10K raised an incredible £14,880 to support those affected by acquired brain injury! We used a variety of on-the-ground footage and sweeping drone shots to show the route, the runners and the supporters.
Capturing interviews is a really effective technique when raising awareness, building trust and sharing community spirit, so we made sure to conduct interviews with participants. These gave personal insight and were very inspirational, particularly as some service users from the charity took part themselves.
